Workbook - Simpsons Excercise (Azzy)

Marge Simpson

Wife of Homer Simpson and mother of Bart and Lisa. She is a 'long-suffering' housewife who has to put up with all of the families antics. Marge's concerns are mostly her family, she is very family orientated, she is probably budget conscious since Homer spends a lot of money on random pointless things. A caring motherly figure and is also a member of the 'Citizens Committee on Moral Hygiene.' Although she gets bored of being a housewife and probably sick of everything the family does, she has had a few quite out-there jobs. Also has struggled with addiction and is still an underlying problem.


Fair Trade
A company that helps provide for the producers that are usually discriminated by the traditional trade. So they ensure that the producers get proper payment and decent working conditions. Unlike normal traditional trade where they get paid too little for what they do.

- Marge has quite high morals so she would go for the fact that it helps others and their children, (being a mother with children of her own). The children aspect would persuade her.
- Can quilt her in a way, to getting her to buy it, by saying if you dont, these kids cant have a proper life.
- Can take advantage of her addiction problems, towards the coffee.
- The housewife aspect - Saying coffee is relaxing in a hard day of being a mother.
- Saying she can make a difference in the world 'one coffee at a time' by buying fair trade instead of regular, which could be from since she is bored of being a housewife and wants to do something meaningful (besides bring up kids).

By having a 'mother and children' coffee break, it could encourage mothers, like marge, to participate.

Clean up the Beaches
Environmental event where you try to get people to help clean up the beaches.

- Marge is very family orientated so because of the rubbish along the  beaches it could reflect what the future might be if nothing changes. So by persuading on the posters or website about 'what will the childrens futures be like if we dont help clean up' might hit a chord with Marge.
- Being a member of the citizens committee on hygiene, by saying how bad it could make the world and how unhealthy, could persuade her to join.

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon

Apu is quite the family man, having eight kids and a (mostly) happy marriage. And has a doctorate from S.H.I.T. After working at the Kwik-E-Mart to pay off his loan, he stayed because he enjoyed his job. Devoted to his work. He probably tries very hard to work heaps and keep his family happy and together. He is also Chief of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, which could also mean that he cares for the community as well.


Neighbors
Apu, having a huge family, might want to participate in the 'know your neighbor' event so that his children can have friends and he might even be able to spend some quality time with his wife (if he can get away from his work). A "Bring the whole family" event.
